ROBO - GHANA

2015 Robo Ghana Program

This past summer, members of the Walnut Valley Robotics went to Ghana in hopes of inspiring students in nearby villages to pursue

higher education for STEM careers. Team members spent most of their time at the Avete-Anloga LA Basic School, located in Anloga, Ghana. Though Walnut Valley Robotics is a 2nd team, many of the members have previously been on First Lego League teams previously, so bringing LEGO Mindstorm's to Ghana was an excellent way of demonstrating simple programming and robotics skills. In the time that we were at the school, members instructed students how to design, build, and program their own EV3 Robots. We also made it a priority to give teachers the resources (Ev3 Kits) and instructions required to continue teaching their students. In the time that we were in Africa, we were able to establish relations with many nearby schools and communities.

In the near future, Walnut Valley Robotics looks forward to sending more team members in hopes of starting a First Lego League Team in Ghana; the future's looking bright!

THE CHANGE

2016 RoboGhana Program

This year instead of sending 1 representative, we stepped up our commitment to Ghana and the children in Ghana. By sending in an additional student, we were able to maximize the number of students that could participate in the program this year. In addition we were able to donate a total of 5 Mindstorm kits and 2 Surface Pro's for the student's use.
